Berlin/Leipzig, November 22, 2022. Wunderflats, Germany’s market leader for temporary furnished housing, is delighted to receive the SO!APART Special Award for its Ukrainian housing initiative! The housing-as-a-service scale-up from Berlin was awarded a special prize at the SO!APART Awards 2022 ceremony. The award gala takes place annually on the first evening of the two-day SO!APART conference – THE industry gathering of the serviced apartment world. Jan Hase, co-founder and CEO of Wunderflats, accepted the award personally in Leipzig.

With this special award, the organizer Apartmentservice recognizes Wunderflats’ fast relief action in response to the outbreak of war in Ukraine, due to which tens of thousands had to give up their homes overnight and leave their homeland. With the help of numerous volunteers and partners, the platform was able to help more than 16,000 refugees find temporary homes on couches, guest rooms, private apartments, serviced apartments or hotel rooms. With this initiative, more than 530,000 safe overnight stays could be arranged.

Jan Hase, co-founder and CEO of Wunderflats, about the special award: “My co-founder Arkadi and I would like to sincerely thank Anett Gregorius and Apartmentservice for this special award. We are proud that our decision at the time to want to help has actually made a difference and we would also like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Wunderflats team as well as the more than 150 volunteers and partners, without whom this initiative could not have been launched so quickly. The solidarity shown with people in need has once again demonstrated that compassion and quick action really can make a difference.”

Since 2013, Apartmentservice, led by owner and award donor Anett Gregorius, has been organizing the industry award to showcase the best concepts in the segment. The award ceremony took place on November 16, 2022, in a festive setting and the presence of the most important industry representatives in Leipzig. For the first time, a prize was also awarded for the best current temporary residential housing concept.

As representatives of the entire segment, several heads were honoured who have rendered outstanding services in the context of refugee aid. In addition to Jan Hase & Arkadi Jampolski from Wunderflats, the Special Award 2022 also went to Florian Wichelmann, Managing Director Nena Apartments and Heike Antonelli Head of Sales Nena Apartments for the #everybedhelps initiative as well as Sybille Thierer, Managing Director Häfele and Martin Reichenbach, founder of Apaleo.

Anett Gregorius says about the award for Wunderflats: “We are very pleased that our Special Award this year also goes to such a special cause as Wunderflats’ Ukrainian housing initiative. With its quick and straightforward response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the company has impressively demonstrated that speed of reaction and the will to help can achieve great things. It’s a role model for the entire industry and we hope that the action will continue to be successful over the upcoming winter.
