In July 2023 Wunderflats has launched a new platform connecting refugees from Ukraine with people offering private living spaces in Germany. With Helfende Wände, you can easily add a listing, each room and each apartment makes a difference.
As Russia’s devastating war of aggression against Ukraine goes on, people continue to seek shelter in Germany. Wunderflats has partnered with the non-profit organization ProjectTogether to create Helfende Wände, the platform listing all types of private accommodation, with an easy and secure way to offer and book them.
“We all can and must do something for the people who are fleeing from their homeland to Germany because of the war in Ukraine. This help must come quickly and efficiently. I am very pleased that with BMI and ProjectTogether we at Wunderflats have found strong partners and are now able to provide this platform,” says Jan Hase, CEO of Wunderflats. “With our activation campaign, we are now calling on everyone to use this platform to make existing accommodation available to refugees from Ukraine.”

Thanks to the inspiring generosity of hosts, the initiative Wunderflats started in 2022 connected 16,000 refugees from Ukraine with those offering homes in Germany. #HelfendeWände takes this further, with smart solutions coupled with ongoing support and guidance for all involved, throughout the process.

How can I offer my space?
You can learn more about the platform, and offer your living space by creating a listing on Helfendewaende.de.
Is the platform safe?
Safety is a top priority for us. To keep all users of the platform safe, we ask both those offering their homes and those in need of housing to verify their identity. We offer this service in collaboration with our secure partner Veriff.
Is the Helfende Wände platform free to use?
Yes. Wunderflats offers services on the Helfende Wände platform free of charge.
Can I offer a spare room?
You can offer a spare room, an entire apartment, or a house. Just make sure to indicate the housing type when you create your listing on the platform.
Does the apartment need to be furnished?
You can offer housing without furniture, but please keep in mind that most refugees arrive in Germany with only the bare essentials. You can support them by providing basic furniture.
How should I set the rental price?
You can support refugees by offering housing for free or at reduced rates. When calculating the rental price for a furnished apartment, consider location, size, the number of beds and furniture, and local comparative rental rates.
Is there a minimum rental period?
There is no minimum rental period on Helfende Wände, but we encourage you to consider offering your space for at least one month.
